How can you translate the experience of walking around an art gallery to navigating around the internet?
The Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, TX is located on the UT campus and has an amazing collection of works from all styles and time periods. Walking through their gallery is a wonderful experience.
Their web experience was not that wonderful.
Using my redesigned site map I organized a test for users to determine weather they would successfully be able to navigate to the desired location on the first try. This would help me verify the intuitiveness of my reorganization as well as point out any difficulties users were having navigating the data.
With a few refinements I was able to create a prototype in Figma.
All though this low-fidelity product may look like a jumbled spiderweb, the organization matches the redesigned and updated site map. The file is now ready to hand off to the visual designers to refine and place their own assets in line with the branding identity of Blanton Museum of Art.
